Prabowo Praises Miangas Residents for Knowing Ministers' Names, Despite Being an Outermost Island

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto introduced the lineup of ministers in the Merah Putih Cabinet while visiting residents of Miangas, Talaud, North Sulawesi, on Saturday (9/5/2026).

President Prabowo first introduced the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.

Prabowo also explained the duties and assistance that the government would provide in the maritime and fisheries sector.

“Today we are providing aid, how big is one boat? 15 gross tonnes, that’s huge, how many crew? 15 GT,” said Prabowo while meeting residents at SMK 2 Talaud, Miangas, North Sulawesi, on Saturday (9/5/2026).

Then, when Prabowo introduced the Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, he asked if the Miangas residents knew Sjafrie.

“Sjafrie?” asked Prabowo.

“Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin,” the residents answered in unison.

Prabowo introduced the Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo.

“Who is this?” Prabowo asked again.

“Mr Dody,” the residents answered in unison.

“How do you all know everyone, even though it’s an outermost island. Wow, this is really impressive, it means Komdigi is great, there’s TV,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo did not forget to also introduce the Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya.

“Earlier I apologised for forgetting the cabinet secretary, Mr Teddy Indra Wijaya,” he said.
