Prabowo Praises Maruli and Listyo for Reaching Top Positions Through Merit
President Prabowo Subianto has praised Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Maruli Simanjuntak and National Police Chief (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, saying both men deserved to reach the highest positions in their respective institutions because of their achievements, dedication and ability.
Prabowo delivered the praise while giving a virtual address from the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta at the inauguration of 3,395 bridges built by the TNI and Polri, as well as 3,000 clean water sources built by the Army, on Jalan Bayah-Cikotok, West Bayah Village, Lebak Regency, Banten, on Thursday.
“That is why I believe a soldier like Maruli Simanjuntak becoming the highest-ranking officer in the Army is fitting, given his work and dedication. I am also confident that Police General Listyo reaching the highest peak in the police force is fitting because of his achievements, dedication and ability,” Prabowo said.
The President said he had been monitoring Maruli’s various initiatives even before the latter assumed the post of Army Chief of Staff. According to Prabowo, the dedication and good deeds of an individual, official or leader will eventually be known to the public.
“All good deeds, all good service by individuals, by officials, by leaders, are in fact monitored, observed, recorded and remembered by the people. Remember that,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo conveyed this appreciation in the context of the TNI and Polri’s service mission through the construction of basic infrastructure for the public, such as bridges and clean water sources.
The President assessed that Maruli and Listyo had demonstrated the ability to grasp the meaning of leadership through service that provides direct benefits to the people.
“We have worked shoulder to shoulder. You have grasped what it means to be a leader. You have grasped how joyful it is when we can do something meaningful for our people,” the President said.
In his virtual address from the Merdeka Palace, Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
