Prabowo Praises Danantara Performance, State-Owned Enterprises Begin to Turn a Profit
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed high appreciation for the performance of Danantara, which he says has succeeded in significantly boosting the income of state-owned enterprises (BUMN). In less than two years, a number of state companies that had previously been loss-making for decades are now beginning to record profits.
The statement was made by Prabowo during his remarks at the launch of the 100GWp Solar Power Plant Programme in Jembrana, Bali, on Tuesday (25/8). He said the increase in BUMN income under Danantara’s management had reached hundreds of percent.
“In less than two years, Danantara’s income, the income of these BUMNs, has risen by hundreds of percent. Several BUMNs that had been losing money for a dozen years, for decades, are now starting to turn a profit. The increase is sometimes beyond what we could have predicted,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo assessed that this improvement in performance could not be separated from the leadership factor within Danantara. He praised the integrity of the institution’s leaders, whom he considers to possess honesty and a great love of country in managing state assets.
Given these achievements, the President even stated that Danantara’s leadership deserves official recognition. “I think Danantara’s leadership deserves a state honour medal,” he asserted.
Despite the positive trend, Prabowo stressed that the government will not be complacent. He instructed that oversight of state fund leakages continue to be tightened and that financial management be carried out more rigorously and with greater discipline.
Prabowo’s optimism about the future of state-owned companies is now growing stronger. He said he was heartened to see the transformation taking place and hopes that this improvement in governance will continue in order to strengthen the national economy.
