Prabowo Praises Constitutional Court's Digital Access and Supreme Court's Speed in Resolving Cases

President Prabowo Subianto has praised the performance of the judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court’s speed in resolving cases and the increasingly easy public access to the Constitutional Court. He made the remarks during his state address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly and the Joint Session of the Regional Representative Council and the House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday. Prabowo noted that throughout 2025, the Constitutional Court handled 701 cases and petitions, including 334 disputes over regional head election results. A total of 598 cases and petitions were decided. The President also highlighted the transformation of the Constitutional Court’s services, which has made it easier for people in various regions to access the constitutional justice process. As of 23 July 2026, 84.51 percent of petitions to the Constitutional Court were filed online. With this mechanism, citizens from Aceh to Papua no longer need to travel to Jakarta to submit a petition. On the same occasion, Prabowo reported that throughout 2025, the Supreme Court handled 38,148 cases and decided 37,973 of them, achieving a productivity rate of 99.54 percent. According to the President, 96.74 percent of cases in the Supreme Court were resolved in less than three months. This achievement marks the highest timeliness rate in the Supreme Court’s history. On the matter of judicial oversight, Prabowo stressed the importance of supervising judges. From January to June 2026, the Judicial Commission received 1,402 public reports and 622 requests for trial monitoring. The Judicial Commission also proposed sanctions against 121 judges found to have violated the code of ethics, including 14 medium sanctions and 17 severe sanctions. ‘We must uphold the supremacy of law and the independence of judges,’ Prabowo stated.
