Prabowo Pledges Massive Investment Funds for Education
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has pledged to allocate substantial funds to the education sector in Indonesia. He stated that education is a highly important sector for the advancement of the Indonesian nation. “I will pay close attention and invest massively in the field of education for the future of our nation, every Indonesian child must be provided with the best education,” said Prabowo at SMAN 1 Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday (29/4). Prabowo promised that in the future, he would intensify efforts to renovate schools. He mentioned that in 2026, the government has prepared a budget to renovate around 70,000 schools. “Next year, my target is, if possible, more than 100,000,” he said. Prabowo targets the renovation of approximately 288,000 school units across Indonesia to be completed by 2028. In addition to renovations, Prabowo mentioned that adequate learning facilities will also be provided for students in Indonesia. He stated that in the future, learning facilities such as smart screens in every classroom will be increasingly intensified. Prabowo emphasised that every Indonesian child deserves and has the right to receive the best education. “I want every classroom to have a digital screen, smart board, smart class; currently, it’s just one per school, some have two, that’s great already two, so our target is still maybe 3-4 more per school,” he said.
