Prabowo Plans to Build Houses and Sanitation Facilities for Residents Along Senen Railway Tracks

President Prabowo Subianto made a direct visit to the residents’ settlement around the railway tracks in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon (26/3/2026). During the visit, he conveyed his desire to provide more decent housing for the local community. Based on a post from the Cabinet Secretariat’s Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet, Prabowo conducted the inspection wearing navy blue clothing and a brown cap, accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. His presence occurred without tight security from the Presidential Security Force and with a small entourage. During the opportunity, Prabowo took the time to interact with residents and directly inspect the settlement conditions. Several residents admitted to being surprised as this was the first time their area had been visited by a president. After inspecting the location, Prabowo immediately coordinated follow-up steps with relevant stakeholders. In the latest post from the Cabinet Secretariat, he is seen holding a meeting with the Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing Didyk Choiroel, President Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin, as well as representatives from Perumnas and other related parties. “President Prabowo directly ordered the Minister of Housing via telephone because he was in Toba (with the Secretary General of the Ministry present), the Minister of Public Works, the President Director of Perumnas and KAI (Indonesian Railways), and several related officials to build housing and MCK for residents still living along the railway tracks,” it stated. Currently, the relevant team is said to have begun moving to prepare the construction of new housing along with MCK facilities. The location is planned to remain not far from the residents’ current living area along the Senen railway embankment. “According to the residents’ statements, they have been living along the railway tracks for decades with limited housing and roofs. And the President wants these residents to be provided with decent places to live and MCK as soon as possible,” it concluded.
