Prabowo Plans to Build 10 New Campuses This Year
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – President Prabowo Subianto has set a target of building 10 new universities this year. This is part of efforts to strengthen the quality of the bureaucracy and prepare human resources in the government sector. The campus construction also includes the establishment of a specialized institution for government administration education.
“I have prepared educational institutions. This year we will begin building 10 new universities, including one specialized institution for government administration,” Prabowo said at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 event at Wisma Dananta, South Jakarta, on Friday (2/13).
“We will select the best sons and daughters of Indonesia, develop them, and prepare them to take over leadership of all institutions properly,” he added.
Prabowo explained that the construction of these educational institutions is part of efforts to create a clean and fair government through the regeneration of state apparatus. He emphasized that legal certainty and good governance are the keys to a nation’s success.
“I want there to be rule of law in Indonesia. I want legal certainty. Only with legal certainty can we guarantee stability and peace of mind for our people. Our people must feel they live in a society where the government is clean and fair,” he said.
Furthermore, Prabowo affirmed that the government will carry out bureaucratic reform, including replacing officials deemed to be underperforming or in violation of regulations. He stated he has granted authority to several institutions to conduct evaluations and replace officials as needed.
“Bureaucrats who refuse to adapt — we will carry out regeneration. I have ordered Danantara (BPI), the State-Owned Enterprises Agency (BP BUMN), the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, and all ministers of ministries and agencies, giving them full authority to replace all officials who do not perform well or who commit violations,” Prabowo said.
