Prabowo Plans Surprise for Senen Railway Track Residents, Here's the Leak

Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait (Ara) has revealed the latest progress on the construction of homes for residents living along the Senen Station railway tracks. According to her, the construction of these homes will be completed on 15 June 2026.

The homes are being built in the Kramat Street area, Senen Sub-district, Central Jakarta, comprising 800 units.

“Following President Prabowo’s instructions, after his field visit to the Senen area two weeks ago, construction has already begun in the Kramat Street area, together with Mr Doni (BP BUMN), under the direction of Mr Rosan (Minister of Investment and Downstreaming), for around 300 houses in the Senen area. Subsequently, PT KAI is preparing 500 more units that will soon be processed. For the Senen project, it will be completed on 15 June, meaning two months from now,” said Ara, after a Limited Meeting at the State Palace on Monday (6/4/2026).

Ara explained that during the meeting, the president also directed the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Nusron Wahid to prepare land for housing for low- and middle-income communities. Meanwhile, Danantara will assist with financing and construction.

Not only that, according to her, several companies also want to participate in building flats to support this government programme. For example, Astra plans to build 1,000 units of flats through its CSR programme.

However, on that occasion, Ara could not yet provide further details regarding the ownership status of the homes for the residents.

“Well, we’re currently arranging the ownership—some will be ensured as owned, others as rented. We’ll see the regulations later, but let’s build first to make it quick. So we’ll build while following up on the regulations, preparing what we can. For now, of course, there will be quite a few that are rental-based. Rentals at affordable prices,” she stated.
