Prabowo Plans Construction of 50 New Toll Roads Across Indonesia
The administration of President Prabowo Subianto is set to construct several toll road sections that have been included in the National Strategic Projects (PSN) list. This list of planned toll roads is stipulated in the Regulation of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Number 16 of 2025.
According to Article 2A, paragraph 2, if a National Strategic Project cannot be completed on schedule, the person in charge of the project must report the implementation and propose a revised completion plan to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.
One of the toll road projects currently being accelerated is the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), which will connect Lampung to Aceh. PT Hutama Karya (Persero), the contractor and operator of the JTTS, revealed that approximately 1,618 km of the toll road remains to be constructed.
In addition to new construction, the government is also directing the budget towards increasing capacity and maintaining existing roads. This effort is considered vital for maintaining inter-regional connectivity, particularly along major logistics routes that support goods distribution and public mobility.
