TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto said state assets recovered by the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) would be used to improve education and healthcare, as well as increase salaries for teachers and civil servants.
Speaking at a land and fine handover ceremony at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Tuesday, Prabowo said recovering 6.2 million hectares of forest land from illegal plantation and mining activities had prevented potential state losses of nearly Rp400 trillion, according to ANTARA.
Prabowo said the recovered assets would help fund higher salaries for teachers, civil servants, judges, prosecutors, and police officers. The funds could support programs that assist vulnerable communities, as well as finance repairs to schools and health centers, upgrades to irrigation systems, and forest and land fire prevention efforts.
He said that the recovered resources would save the country and future generations money. According to Prabowo, the task force has returned Rp52 trillion to the state during its two years of operation.
Prabowo acknowledged that the task remains challenging but said the results showed progress. He expressed confidence that asset recovery efforts would continue to grow, ensuring the nation’s wealth is used to improve public welfare.
