Prabowo Phones Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas
President Prabowo Subianto has extended greetings via telephone to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya revealed that Prabowo contacted Mahmoud Abbas to offer Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah congratulations.
Teddy stated that this communication is part of a series of outreach efforts by Prabowo to leaders of friendly nations. Such interactions represent efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine.
“President Prabowo Subianto has continued his communications extending Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone to leaders of Muslim-friendly nations, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas,” Teddy said in a written statement from the Presidential Secretariat, quoted on Tuesday, 24 March 2026.
The Presidential Secretariat’s statement noted that President Prabowo’s communication with President Mahmoud Abbas symbolises Indonesia’s consistency in supporting the Palestinian people. Through this interaction, Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation and advancing peace and regional stability.
In addition to the Palestinian President, Prabowo conducted similar communications with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Previously, President Prabowo had conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Saudi Arabian Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
“This outreach serves as prayers and good wishes in maintaining closeness, support, and strengthening cooperation between nations, especially during the Eid al-Fitr momentum,” Teddy said.
