Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto held a telephone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to convey Eid al-Fitr greetings for 1447 Hijriah and to strengthen solidarity.

This was stated by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a written statement on Monday (23/3).

Teddy explained that the communication is part of a series of outreach efforts by President Prabowo with friendly nation leaders, as well as an initiative to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine.

“President Prabowo Subianto has continued communications extending Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone with leaders of friendly Muslim countries, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas,” the Cabinet Secretary wrote.

In addition to the Palestinian President, President Prabowo also held similar communications with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Previously, President Prabowo had also extended Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Saudi Arabian Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

“This outreach serves as prayers and good wishes in maintaining closeness, support, and strengthening cooperation between countries, especially during this meaningful Eid al-Fitr moment,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy continued.

President Prabowo utilises the Eid al-Fitr momentum as an opportunity to reaffirm humanitarian values, solidarity, and international brotherhood.

In this context, President Prabowo’s communication with President Mahmoud Abbas also symbolises Indonesia’s consistency in providing unwavering support to the Palestinian people.

Since its independence, Indonesia has consistently positioned Palestine as a close friend with strong historical and emotional ties.

In various international forums, Indonesia continues to stand at the forefront in promoting a just and dignified peace for Palestine.

Through this warm communication, Indonesia once again affirms its commitment to continue supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle, strengthening bilateral cooperation, and encouraging the creation of peace and stability in the region.
