Prabowo Performs Eid al-Fitr Prayer in Aceh Tamiang, Gibran at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The President was previously in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday for the takbiran night with the community.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo will perform Eid prayers at a location near the residences occupied by evacuees affected by the disaster.

The President’s presence in Aceh Tamiang during the Eid al-Fitr moment also serves to check the post-flood disaster handling in the area.

“There, the Minister of Home Affairs is already present, as is the Minister of Public Works. Then tomorrow (ed.-today), progress will be reported, and he wants to check directly in Aceh how the developments are. In North Sumatra earlier at the airport, he already received reports from the Governor and so on,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday night.

On that occasion, President Prabowo will also distribute aid packages of basic necessities to the local community.

Meanwhile, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is scheduled to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers at Istiqlal Mosque on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, who is also the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, Nasaruddin Umar, during a press conference held on Friday, 20 March 2026, or one day before the Eid prayer.

“Certainly, tomorrow, God willing, here the Vice President along with many high-ranking state officials will perform prayers here,” said Nasaruddin Umar on Friday.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has set Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, 1 Syawal, to fall on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The decision was taken in the isbat session held on Thursday, 19 March 2026, after considering the results of calculations and crescent moon sightings in various regions of Indonesia.
