Prabowo Pays Final Respects to Late Ryamizard Ryacudu at Defence Ministry

President Prabowo Subianto attended the funeral ceremony and farewell for the late former Defence Minister Retired General Ryamizard Ryacudu at the Ministry of Defence in Central Jakarta. Prabowo paid his final respects to the deceased.

Prabowo arrived at the Ministry of Defence on Monday, 1 June 2026, at approximately 8:25 AM WIB. He then proceeded to the Hening Room to pay his final respects.

Prabowo stood briefly before the coffin and prayed as a gesture of respect for the late general’s service to the nation. He also saluted the deceased.

Retired General Ryamizard Ryacudu passed away on Sunday, 31 May 2026. During his lifetime, he was renowned as a national military figure who dedicated himself to the country, including his tenure as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD) from 2002 to 2005 and Defence Minister of the Republic of Indonesia from 2014 to 2019.

The late Ryamizard Ryacudu’s body arrived at the Ministry of Defence at 7:35 AM WIB and was laid in state in front of the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Hall. The funeral ceremony was presided over by Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan as the reviewing officer.

Following the funeral ceremony, the deceased’s body was escorted from the Ministry of Defence to the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta. The farewell was part of the final honours before the military burial.

The military funeral at Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery is scheduled to be led by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin as the reviewing officer. The military burial serves as a national tribute to a soldier and statesman who dedicated his life to Indonesia.
