Prabowo: Pancasila National Guiding Principle Amid Global Discord

President Prabowo Subianto stated that Pancasila serves as Indonesia’s guiding principle amid an increasingly divided world. He described Pancasila as the unifier of the nation.

Prabowo made the remarks during the ceremony commemorating Pancasila Birth Day at the Pancasila Building in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026. Prabowo described Pancasila as a grand consensus.

‘Pancasila is a grand consensus. A national agreement that allows our nation, comprising thousands of islands, hundreds of ethnic groups, languages, and cultures, to live as one,’ Prabowo said.

Prabowo stated this formed the basis of this year’s Pancasila Day theme. The theme for this year’s Pancasila Birth Day is ‘Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation and Foundation of World Peace’.

‘The theme holds profound meaning. Amid a world increasingly divided by conflicts, geopolitical rivalries, trade wars, and economic uncertainty, Indonesia has a solid foundation: Pancasila,’ he added.

Prabowo stressed that Pancasila is not merely a historical document. He said it serves as a guiding principle for national, societal, and state life.

‘Brothers and sisters, Pancasila is not just a historical document, nor should it be merely a slogan recited at every ceremony,’ he said. ‘Pancasila is the guide for managing national life, societal life, state life, including how we build our national economic system,’ he added.
