Prabowo: Over 108 Issues Resolved in 18 Months, a Significant Achievement

President Prabowo Subianto has said that the government has resolved more than 108 problems over the 18 months of his administration. According to Prabowo, this constitutes a significant achievement.

“By our latest count, more than 108 problems, 110 problems, that we have resolved in a year and a half, 18 months of our government — this is no small achievement. We remain humble, we do not want to beat our chests, we must not be arrogant or proud, for that is our nation’s character,” Prabowo said as he opened a cabinet session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (20 July 2026).

“But if we achieve something, we must acknowledge it. No other nation will respect us if we do not respect ourselves,” he continued.

Prabowo said the government had received a mandate from the people to confront and resolve the nation’s various problems. He therefore urged his entire cabinet not to be daunted by the challenges ahead.

“We have been given a mandate by the people to face and solve problems, so we must not fear problems, we must not fear difficulties, we must not fear shortcomings. We understand — the whole nation understands — that our teachers’ salaries are insufficient, we understand that jobs are scarce, we understand that extreme poverty persists. We understand all our problems,” he said.

Prabowo acknowledged that he had discovered a number of problems far larger than expected, one of which was the leakage of state wealth.

“We know that this is precisely what we were elected and mandated to resolve. We know there is inequality in our society, but I will say frankly, everywhere I look — I myself, as president, as one sworn in alongside our Vice President — I never imagined that some of these problems would be far beyond our expectations,” he said.

“There has been a distortion of our economy. Our wealth has been flowing out significantly — thousands of trillions, hundreds of billions of dollars every year — through under-invoicing, falsified trade reports and smuggling practices. These are things that are irrational and unjust for our nation,” he said.

According to Prabowo, these findings are supported by data from international institutions, including the United Nations. He cited the example of Indonesia, the world’s largest palm oil producer, having nonetheless experienced a shortage of cooking oil for weeks.

“This is not our data — this is data from international institutions, data from the United Nations. But the whole nation has already felt it; all economic actors at home and abroad already understand. Everyone knows that the world’s largest palm oil producer once went without cooking oil for weeks — something that defies logic,” he said.

Prabowo assessed that the government had resolved many problems over the past 18 months, and pledged to continue tackling the remaining issues.

“That is why I remind you that we were given a mandate to solve problems, and we should be proud that during this period we have indeed resolved many problems and difficulties,” he said.
