Prabowo Outlines Keys to Economic Stability in Meeting with US Business Leaders
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto outlined the Indonesian government's strategy for maintaining stable national economic growth above 5 per cent, whilst accelerating connectivity development and energy transition as long-term foundations.
During a meeting with the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC), US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), and US-Indonesia Society (USINDO) at the USCC building in Washington DC, United States, on Wednesday afternoon local time, Prabowo stressed the importance of cooperation and stability as key prerequisites for supporting sustainable growth.
He expressed confidence that collaboration and compromise among national leaders would create a strong climate of trust for investment.
"I have learnt that cooperation, collaboration, and compromise will ultimately prove more beneficial and more profitable for all parties," said President Prabowo.
According to President Prabowo, political stability, rule of law, and good governance are the keys to maintaining investor confidence.
The head of state noted that Indonesia's economic fundamentals remain strong owing to maintained fiscal discipline and stable growth above 5 per cent, which will continue to increase.
One of the government's primary strategic focuses is strengthening the economy from the grassroots level, reaching the most disadvantaged communities.
The government wants to ensure that growth can be sustained over the long term through sound and sustainable management of natural resources.
"We want to have the ability to sustain growth, but we also need to manage the economy in the sense of ensuring that the utilisation of our natural resources is carried out in a sound and sustainable manner," said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo added that the government has placed infrastructure development and connectivity as priorities. He acknowledged that significant work remains, particularly in improving logistics efficiency.
To that end, the Indonesian government will build ports, airports, and toll roads to enhance efficiency.
Furthermore, President Prabowo confirmed that energy transition forms part of the long-term strategy. The government is committed to developing renewable energy, electric vehicles, and green energy industries.
"We are committed to renewable energy, electric vehicles, and green industry, but our approach is very pragmatic," he added.
With a combination of political stability, strengthened investment, connectivity development, and measured energy transition, the government is optimistic about maintaining growth momentum whilst reinforcing Indonesia's competitiveness on the global stage.
