President Prabowo Subianto outlined the four guiding principles of his administration as he commenced his state address at the 2026 Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Friday. “To fulfil the promises I have made, and to honour my oath as President of the Republic of Indonesia, I have led the government of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia for 21 months based on four main principles,” President Prabowo told the assembled people’s representatives. The first principle, the President stated, is that his government works to uphold and implement the mandates of the constitution, namely the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. “Secondly, we work to safeguard, execute, and protect the core and vital national interests. This includes protecting and managing Indonesia’s national wealth as effectively as possible so that it can be fully utilised for the prosperity of all Indonesian people,” he said. The third principle, the President continued, is that the government works to overcome the people’s difficulties in the shortest possible time. “Fourthly, in our work, we are always oriented towards the interests of the people, and the interests of their children, and their grandchildren,” President Prabowo added. President Prabowo then noted that during his 21 months in office, not all of his promises to the people have been fulfilled, nor have all the nation’s problems been resolved. Nevertheless, the President stated that in less than two years, a number of complex national issues have begun to be addressed by the government. The Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI was attended by 629 out of a total 732 MPR RI members, comprising members of the DPR RI and DPD RI. The state address delivered during the session is part of the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The series of annual session events began with speeches from MPR RI Speaker Ahmad Muzani, followed by DPD RI Speaker Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, and then the State Address by President Prabowo Subianto. This year’s MPR RI Annual Session was attended by the 7th President Joko Widodo, the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, the 11th Vice President Boediono, and the 13th Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin, as well as Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, members of the Red and White Cabinet, heads of institutions, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and several political party leaders.
