Prabowo Outlines 6 Key Issues to Resolve Within 21 Months

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has revealed a number of government priorities for resolving the nation’s problems during his 21 months in office, speaking during a State Address at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. The speech was part of the agenda for the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) on Friday (14/8). Prabowo initially noted that 81 years ago, the nation’s founders bequeathed a country and an ideal. “A sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia. An Indonesia whose wealth must be utilised to the greatest extent for the people’s prosperity and must not be enjoyed only by a handful of people,” Prabowo stated.

Simultaneously, an infographic was displayed. The infographic contained six points of government focus for resolving national problems over 21 months. The first focus is implementing 121 transformative policies to address various national issues. The second focus is achieving food self-sufficiency within one year, a milestone reached faster than the initial target. Third, the government’s focus is on eliminating 145 regulations on fertiliser distribution. The infographic reported that fertiliser prices have fallen by 20 per cent, while the profit of PT Pupuk Indonesia rose by 252.8 per cent. Prabowo had earlier explained in his speech that this achievement was the result of teamwork and a spirit of mutual cooperation. “This is the result of the team that helps me. The Minister of Agriculture with all his staff, the agricultural extension workers, supported by many other ministries, supported by regional governments, supported by the TNI and the National Police,” he said.

Furthermore, in the infographic, the fourth point shows that Indonesia has achieved self-sufficiency in eight food commodities. These eight commodities include rice, maize, consumption sugar, chicken meat, chicken eggs, shallots, large chillies, and bird’s eye chillies. The fifth focus, energy self-sufficiency, is also beginning to materialise through B50 diesel. It was stated that from 1 July 2026, Indonesia will no longer import diesel fuel. This will result in foreign exchange savings of Rp170 trillion per year. Finally, it was also noted that the Nutritious Meals programme, Digital Social Assistance, and downstream processing are underway and their benefits are beginning to be felt by the public. Prabowo stated that he received a mandate from the people to solve problems and difficulties, not to explain why problems cannot be solved. “We choose to make difficult decisions today rather than bequeath even heavier and more complicated problems to our future generations,” Prabowo said.
