President Prabowo Subianto stated that the Indonesian nation has been underestimated by other nations for too long.

This was conveyed by Prabowo during the inauguration of the operationalisation of 1,601 Merah Putih Cooperatives in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday (16/5).

“Indeed, the Indonesian nation has been underestimated by other nations for too long, our nation is considered a weak nation, a ‘soft state’, we are weak,” said Prabowo.

According to Prabowo, many leaders, officials, figures, experts, professors, intellectuals and entrepreneurs in Indonesia suffer from a lack of self-confidence.

“If we look at everything that smells or comes from abroad, foreign and so on, we tend to admire it, we are more in awe. Everything that comes from our own nation, we tend not to trust,” he said.

In fact, Prabowo said, Indonesia has achieved many achievements. One of them is related to the success of food self-sufficiency.

“We guarantee food for 287 million people, it is not an easy task, we have succeeded. The target we gave, I gave as president who is responsible as a mandate of popular sovereignty, I was sworn in, I am responsible if this nation is hungry, I am responsible, no one else will be blamed, no one else will be asked to be held accountable,” he said.

“I am responsible, I gave the task to the Minister of Agriculture and all his team, I asked for food self-sufficiency in four years, they managed to produce it in one year,” he added.
