Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has requested Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi to ensure that the policy of transport ticket discounts during the Lebaran homecoming period can be implemented optimally across all transport modes.

“I now wish to convey several matters related to the Lebaran homecoming that we are facing. First, I request the Transport Minister to ensure that the discount price policy can be implemented as effectively as possible,” Prabowo said in his opening remarks at the Full Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.

The President stated that the discount policy covers airfares, train tickets, ship fares, and toll road tariffs used by the public during the Lebaran exodus and return journey.

Beyond ensuring the implementation of the discount policy, the President also requested that service quality for the public at every transport point be maintained during the homecoming period.

“Next, I request that the quality of service at rest areas, ports, airports, and all stations be improved. Try to avoid uncontrolled queuing,” Prabowo said.

The government has officially implemented a transport ticket discount stimulus with reductions of up to 30 per cent to support the smooth flow of the Lebaran 2026 homecoming journey.

A discount of up to 30 per cent is provided for trains, ships, and toll roads, whilst domestic economy class airline tickets receive a discount of 17–18 per cent, and ferry port services are fully subsidised.

The discounts apply during specific periods to alleviate congestion.

For train transport, a 30 per cent discount applies to all non-assigned economy trains from 14 to 29 March 2026. The target is to reach 1.28 million passengers with a total of 188 journeys, comprising 156 regular trains and 32 additional trains.

For sea transport, a 30 per cent discount is provided for economy class across all Pelni PSO ship routes. This discount applies to departures from 11 March to 5 April 2026, targeting 445,000 passengers on 25 ships.

Meanwhile, air transport offers a price reduction of 17 to 18 per cent for domestic economy class aeroplane tickets.

The aeroplane ticket discount applies during 14–29 March 2026, with ticket purchases beginning from 10 February. The target beneficiary is 3.32 million passengers.

For ferry services, the government provides stimulus in the form of 100 per cent waiver of port service tariffs.

This discount applies from 12–31 March 2026 at 14 ferry ports.

Additionally, a 30 per cent price reduction is also applied to toll road tariffs on 25 sections in Sumatra and Java. The discount applies on 15–16 March and 26–27 March 2026.

Based on a Transport Ministry survey, approximately 143.9 million people are estimated to travel during this year’s Lebaran homecoming period.
