Prabowo Orders Swift Investigation into Acid Attack on KontraS Activist Andrie Yunus

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi expressed deep concern over an acid attack incident that befell Andrie Yunus, deputy coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).

“We are naturally very concerned about this incident,” Prasetyo told journalists at the Defence Ministry office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

Prasetyo conveyed that President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the National Police to investigate the acid attack incident. The President, he said, requested that the alleged acid attack case be investigated objectively and expeditiously.

“As the National Police Chief has already communicated, the President has ordered an investigation that is objective, transparent, and as swift as possible,” he concluded.

Previously reported, Andrie Yunus, deputy coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), became the victim of an alleged acid attack by an unknown perpetrator in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday evening, 12 March 2026.

The incident is now being investigated by the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Police confirmed that the victim had received medical treatment following the incident.

Budi Hermanto, head of public relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, confirmed the occurrence of the dangerous liquid attack against the activist.

“We confirm the occurrence of an alleged dangerous liquid attack against a victim in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta. The victim has received medical treatment at RSCM hospital,” Budi stated on Friday, 13 March 2026.
