Prabowo Orders Rosan to Accelerate Downstreaming Programme - Economy Business
President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, in Hambalang, Bogor, on Friday (23/4/2026).
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced this via his Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet. Teddy explained that the meeting discussed the downstreaming programme.
“The development of the downstreaming programme, which will be built soon in 13 locations,” said Teddy on his Instagram account on Thursday (24/4/2026).
Additionally, several investors planning to invest in Indonesia were discussed.
According to Teddy, President Prabowo wants downstreaming not only in the energy and minerals sectors but also to be expanded into agriculture.
On his Instagram account @rosanroeslani, Rosan stated that Prabowo also provided directions regarding the acceleration of downstreaming and strengthening Danantara’s priority programmes.
“Investment in Indonesia, God willing, will increasingly add value, open more job opportunities, and drive the national industry to become more competitive,” said Rosan.
Previously, Rosan had reported on Indonesia’s investment realisation reaching Rp498.79 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. Investment realisation also increased by 7.22% year-on-year (YoY). Of that realisation, foreign direct investment accounted for 50.11%.
For foreign direct investment, several countries contributed the largest investments, namely Singapore at around US$4.6 billion, Hong Kong US$2.7 billion, China US$2.2 billion, the US US$1.7 billion, and Japan US$1 billion.
Several sectors dominated the investments, namely basic metal industry or metal goods such as smelters and others. Then other services, mining, housing, industrial estates, transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications.
