Prabowo Orders Police Chief to Finance Minister to Prevent Smuggling
President Prabowo Subianto has ordered National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to address smuggling activities.
Prabowo conveyed this during an event for the handover of Rp11.1 billion from the collection of administrative forestry fines by the PKH Task Force at the Attorney General’s Office on Friday (10/4).
Prabowo emphasised that there is still significant unfinished business. One of them, he said, relates to state financial leakages due to smuggling practices.
Therefore, he assigned a special task to National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to stop smuggling.
“TNI Commander, National Police Chief, Finance Minister—you have institutions tasked with stopping smuggling. Use all the authority you have to enforce that,” he explained.
On that occasion, Prabowo also stressed that the law is an instrument that must be used to protect the nation’s and state’s wealth. He added that the nation’s wealth can make the people prosperous.
“I strongly agree that the law is an instrument for protecting the nation’s and state’s wealth. Without the nation’s and state’s wealth, it is impossible for our people to live prosperously. We have no other choice,” he stated.
Prabowo added that the government still has a long journey to prosper the people. There are many challenges to face, such as budget leakages and smuggling.
“The journey is still long, leakages are still happening, smuggling is still occurring,” he said.
