Prabowo Orders Pertamina and PLN to Immediately Trim Subsidiaries
President Prabowo Subianto has ordered Pertamina and PLN to reduce the number of subsidiaries and business units under their control to improve efficiency and productivity. The instruction was conveyed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya following a limited meeting at the President’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday evening (9/8).
Teddy stated that trimming the corporate layers is one of the President’s key focuses in driving the efficiency of state-owned enterprises (BUMN). He explained that cutting down these subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries is also intended to speed up decision-making, particularly during crucial moments and for critical issues.
“The trimming is aimed at making decision-making faster, increasing productivity, and maintaining the efficiency of all BUMN,” Teddy said, as quoted from an official Cabinet Secretariat release confirmed in Jakarta on Monday (10/8).
Beyond discussing corporate streamlining, the meeting also saw Pertamina CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri report on the progress of the mandatory B50 biodiesel programme, especially since its launch in July 2026. Teddy added that Simon also briefed the President on Pertamina’s infrastructure readiness to implement the government’s mandatory bioethanol programme.
The limited meeting was also attended by several ministers, including State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Head of the State Intelligence Agency M. Herindra, and Head of the Presidential Personal Secretariat Rizky Irmansyah.
