Prabowo Orders National Police Chief to Thoroughly Investigate Acid Attack on Kontras Activist

President Prabowo Subianto has ordered National Police Chief General Sigit Listyo Prabowo to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The investigation must be carried out professionally, transparently, and employ scientific investigative methods.

“Regarding developments in the activist attack case, I have received a direct order from the President to conduct a thorough, professional and transparent investigation,” Sigit said whilst inspecting Gubeng Station in Surabaya on Sunday.

He explained that the investigative process will be conducted using a scientific crime investigation approach to ensure each stage of case handling is carried out objectively and based on evidence.

Additionally, he stated that police are currently gathering various information related to the incident for further examination in stages. “We are currently collecting information and that information will be examined one by one,” he said.

Sigit added that the police will also establish a complaint desk for members of the public who possess information related to the case so they can report it directly to police authorities.
