Prabowo orders military, police to aid Eid travel surge
“Maybe the Navy and the Army have ships that can be mobilized in coordination with the transportation minister,” Prabowo said at a plenary meeting of the Red and White Cabinet on Friday at the State Palace in Jakarta.
He instructed both TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to contribute resources, noting: “I think the Polri, too, has assets and facilities that can be used for this purpose.”
The meeting, attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, ministers, and state agency leaders, focused on preparations for the annual exodus known as “mudik”, when tens of millions travel simultaneously across the archipelago.
“To all ministries and agencies, I want you all to make preparations for Eid. Let us ensure that this year’s homecoming trips proceed safely and comfortably and bring joy to the people,” Prabowo emphasized.
He also linked domestic readiness to global uncertainty, warning: “Uncertainty now defines the world, as we witness many countries reeling from crises. We will brave this situation, but the economy must go on and people must remain calm.”
Despite acknowledging risks, the president assured citizens that Indonesia’s conditions “remain manageable,” underscoring resilience in the face of international turbulence.
