Prabowo orders measures to prevent BBM-LPG shortages ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the relevant ministries to anticipate shortages in the stock of BBM and LPG among the public ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. The president made the statement while presiding over a limited meeting with Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday. ‘We must monitor all developments in readiness for Eid, particularly relating to energy; there must be no shortage of BBM, then LPG, and also food,’ Bahlil said after the meeting. It was stated that the topic of the meeting with President Prabowo Subianto was to discuss the readiness of the energy and food sectors ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Bahlil, together with Zulkifli Hasan, had told the President that energy and food prices remain affordable. ‘From the energy and food sectors, prices are still affordable,’ he said. Bahlil explained that the meeting was an end cross-check to ensure all preparations run optimally. Meanwhile, Zulkli Hasan said that food stocks are available at affordable prices and must not rise. In response to concerns about the impact of Iran’s conflict on food imports and the rupiah’s exchange rate, Bahlil and Zulkifli assured conditions remain safe because national rice and energy stocks are sufficient. Zulkli noted that rice stocks currently stand at around 4 million tonnes and are more than enough to meet community needs ahead of Eid. ‘Stocks of 4 million tonnes, more than enough,’ he said. The government will continue intensive monitoring to ensure supply stability and price stability through to Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
