President Prabowo Subianto has ordered his subordinates to immediately investigate the cause of the train accident involving the Argo Bromo and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station. The investigation aims to determine the cause of the accident.

“And we will immediately conduct an investigation into how the incident occurred,” Prabowo stated after visiting the victims at Bekasi City Hospital on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Prabowo acknowledged that many railway crossings still lack barriers, which he considers hazardous.

“But in general, we note that many of these railway crossings are not properly guarded. We will address this immediately,” he explained.

Additionally, Prabowo mentioned that the Bekasi city government has proposed building a flyover at the crossing near the incident site. He stated that he has already approved its construction.

“And the needs for the railway are very important and urgent. So I have approved the immediate construction of the flyover with presidential assistance,” he emphasised.

“Then in Java, there are 1,800 such crossing points. These have been around since, I think, the Dutch colonial era, for several decades,” he continued.

Prabowo directly ordered that issues ranging from barriers to flyovers be realised. He does not want similar incidents to recur.

“Now, let’s settle all of that. I have already ordered it to be done immediately; we will repair all those crossings, whether by establishing guard posts or building flyovers,” he said.
