Prabowo orders Higher Education Minister to collaborate with universities on giant sea wall project
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto to collaborate with universities on the giant sea wall construction project along the north coast (Pantura) of Java Island.
At the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, after attending a meeting discussing the giant sea wall, Brian said he plans to invite a meeting of several prominent professors who have studied the giant sea wall next week.
“Yes, so next week we will directly invite several prominent professors who have expertise and have been involved in several cases for several projects, yes, for land creation, reclamation, and the like,” said Mendiktisaintek Brian Yuliarto in response to journalists’ questions.
Brian explained that in that meeting, he will bring the prominent professors together with the Head of the North Java Coast Management Authority (BOPPJ) Rear Admiral TNI (Ret.) Didit Herdiawan Ashaf.
“Later (the prominent professors) will join the team led by the Head of the Authority,” he said.
On the same occasion, Brian also stated that the giant sea wall is a strategic infrastructure that will be built by the government because it will save 60 percent of industrial areas and more than 30 million residents living in the northern coastal area of Java Island.
“Well, there are many research results from universities that have also been tested. One of them that succeeded in Demak, Semarang. We are also asked to participate actively. So, lecturers who have been researching at universities that support the acceleration and to make the development of the giant sea wall more efficient are asked to get involved,” said Brian.
President Prabowo led the meeting on accelerating the construction of the giant sea wall along the north coast of Java Island on Monday afternoon until evening.
The meeting was also attended by BOPPJ Head Didit, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan Taufanto, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Deputy TNI Commander General TNI Tandyo Budi Revita, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Danantara CTO Sigit P. Santosa, and Head of Defence Logistics Agency of the Ministry of Defence Rear Marshal TNI Yusuf Jauhari.
In several photos shared by the Presidential Secretariat, the presentation screen displayed in front of President Prabowo showed an exposition on the modelling of the water area in Jakarta Bay before and after the construction of the giant sea wall.
