Prabowo Orders Government to Move Quickly in Handling NTT Earthquake Impact

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has ordered all government ranks to move quickly in handling the impact of the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Thousands of aid packages have also been sent to affected communities.

“Since this morning, the government has continued to move quickly to handle our brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT),” Teddy said in a written statement on Saturday (15/8/2026).

“President Prabowo has ordered all government ranks to move quickly in carrying out the response and to ensure that affected communities receive the assistance they need,” he said.

Prabowo has also assigned several central officials to go directly to Labuan Bajo and Maumere today. Among them are the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Public Works, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Deputy Minister of Health, the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, along with teams from PLN, Telkom, Pertamina, and Bulog.

Teddy said Prabowo has also sent 50,000 basic food aid packages from the presidential assistance programme for affected communities. He assured that the government will continue to be present on the ground.

“In addition, 50,000 basic food packages from the presidential assistance programme have been dispatched to Maumere for affected communities. The government will continue to be present and ensure that the handling on the ground proceeds quickly and accurately,” he said.
