Prabowo Orders Export Push, Pledges to Tackle Business Bottlenecks
President Prabowo Subianto has asked ministries to accelerate national exports towards the end of 2026. Businesses across all sectors, including manufacturing, will be encouraged to strengthen export performance, while obstacles will be removed by a task force appointed by the President.
Co-ordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the directive was among the issues discussed when the economic team met Prabowo at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (19 October 2026).
“Exports will be boosted across all sectors, including manufacturing. We will remove anything that could hold back exports through the debottlenecking process assigned to the task force by the President,” Airlangga said at a press briefing.
Airlangga said the meeting also covered the state of the national economy ahead of the end of the year and included a review of the first two years of Prabowo’s administration.
“Today, the President called in the economic team, primarily to receive an update on the economic situation ahead of the end of the year, and also in connection with the second anniversary of President Prabowo’s administration,” he said.
The government reviewed several key economic indicators, including economic growth, inflation, macroeconomic conditions in the banking sector and investment realisation.
Airlangga said the national economy remained relatively stable. However, the government was continuing efforts to sustain growth momentum through stronger cross-sector co-ordination and improved performance in productive sectors.
Strengthening exports is one of the government’s priorities as it seeks to expand markets for Indonesian products amid shifting global economic conditions. Manufacturing is also in focus because of its potential to increase the contribution of domestic production to international trade.
The government will identify and address obstacles that could impede export activity. Through the debottlenecking process, the task force appointed by the President is expected to resolve these issues in a more targeted manner.
The government hopes export growth can go hand in hand with macroeconomic stability, preserving national growth momentum through the end of the year.
Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara, Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti and Financial Services Authority (OJK) chairwoman Friderica Widyasari Dewi also attended the press briefing.
