Prabowo Orders Bahlil to 'Phase Out' Diesel Power Plants and Purchase Russian Oil

President Prabowo Subianto has directed the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, Bahlil Lahadalia, to “phase out” diesel-powered electricity generators (PLTD) and transition towards using energy sources from within the country, such as solar power plants (PLTS) and geothermal power plants (PLTB).

In related developments, the United States Government has taken an unusual step amid global energy market turmoil caused by tensions with Iran. Washington has granted temporary permission for the purchase of Russian oil currently stranded at sea, with the aim of relieving pressure on global energy supplies.
