Prabowo Orders Bahlil: No Fuel Shortages, Build Storage
JAKARTA — President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has directed Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia regarding preparations ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri / 2026 CE.
Prabowo is said to have asked Bahlil to ensure there is no shortage of energy supply during Ramadan, including BBM and LPG. ‘Yes, we must monitor all developments in readiness for Eid, especially concerning energy; there must be no shortages of fuel, and then LPG,’ Bahlil said after a meeting at the Istana in Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 February 2026.
In the energy sector, Bahlil emphasised that BBM prices remain affordable. The Golkar party chairman added that Prabowo also directed Indonesia to have storage or a place to store BBM. The reason is that Indonesia’s BBM capacity is only sufficient to hold a stock for 25 days.
‘That is why now we have the President’s directive that we promptly build storage. So it’s not that we have no reserves to fill the oil, but we need to know where to put it,’ he said.
‘This is our shortcoming, but we must not blame anyone. How do we fix it? By building storage so that our reserves can reach up to three months,’ he added.
‘Food is available, prices are affordable and must not rise,’ said Zulhas. He also noted that rice stocks in the country are very ample. ‘Safe, stock is safe. We have enough rice,’ asserted the PAN chairman.
