JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto has ordered Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to enforce the law against businessmen who are difficult to regulate. The Head of State has even instructed the Attorney General’s Office to prosecute such businessmen criminally if they continue to harm the country and refuse to cooperate in advancing Indonesia. “I order the Attorney General to enforce the law. If he refuses to cooperate, prosecute him! We have no hesitation and we are not afraid,” said Prabowo, at the handover of administrative fines and state fund recoveries at the Attorney General’s Office, South Jakarta, on Friday (10/4/2026). Prabowo acknowledged that there are still businessmen who take the Indonesian government lightly. “There is already a permit that was revoked by the Republic of Indonesia government, for 8 years that businessman has been ndablek. Then he carries out mining without a permit. He mocks the Republic of Indonesia. He spits on the sacrifices of those who fell for Indonesia’s independence. He does not respect the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” Prabowo emphasised firmly. He stressed that there are only two paths that can be chosen in this situation. First, to be on the right path by siding with justice and the people. Meanwhile, the second is to side with corruptors, fraudsters, manipulators, and smugglers who dare to belittle Indonesia. He did not deny that being on the right side does not mean all problems are solved. However, Prabowo urged law enforcement officials not to worry. “Don’t worry. He will use all means, he will use the money they stole to fund movements. We are not afraid, believe me the people are with us. The people are proud of you, the people see,” Prabowo emphasised. The Head of State affirmed that he will continue to strive to save state funds in the government he leads. “How many more dozens of times we will prove that we want to secure and save the people’s money, how many more dozens of times we will prove we will not stop, we will not be afraid. We move forward continuously defending the nation and the state,” said Prabowo. For information, the Attorney General’s Office has secured state funds amounting to Rp 31.3 trillion from various enforcement actions over the last 1.5 years. Two months later in December 2025, the agency again successfully recovered state funds amounting to Rp 6.625 trillion. Today, the Attorney General’s Office has again recovered funds amounting to Rp 11.420 trillion.
