Prabowo Orders a 1-Ton Sacrificial Cow in West Lombok

The sacrificial cow for the Presidential Community Assistance (Banmaspres) from President Prabowo Subianto in West Lombok Regency is estimated to weigh 1.01 tonnes. The cow is a Simmental cross breed owned by a resident in Menang Hamlet, Gerung Selatan Ward, Gerung Sub-district.

Head of the West Lombok Agriculture Department, Lalu Mohammad Hakam, stated that out of the three cows proposed by his office, only one passed verification. “Out of the three we proposed, one passed verification with a weight of 1.01 tonnes,” he said on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Hakam explained that the weight of the sacrificial cow ordered by President Prabowo this year is lower compared to the previous year’s, which reached 1.26 tonnes. “The price ceiling is Rp 139 million. We don’t yet know the price of this cow, but it is certainly above Rp 100 million,” he added.

He admitted not knowing the distribution schedule (dropping) for the sacrificial cow. The determination of the meat distribution location is entirely under the authority of the Presidential Secretariat (Setpres).

“Regarding the dropping, it is not our authority; it is the buyer’s or the President’s through their Setpres,” he clarified.

On the other hand, Hakam mentioned that the number of sacrificial animals slaughtered in West Lombok has been steadily increasing since 2024.

For 2026, he assured that the availability of sacrificial animals is in surplus, with some even being sent to other regions. “For sacrificial animals in West Lombok, we have a surplus; we are the ones sending them to other regions,” he said.
