President Prabowo Subianto is optimistic that Indonesia’s economic growth can reach 6 percent by the end of 2026. This optimism is based on economic growth of 5.45 percent in the first half of 2026 as well as continued investment growth.

“With the right policies, which are rational and use common sense, I am confident that our economic growth by the end of this year can reach 6 percent,” Prabowo said at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives and the Regional Representatives Council in Jakarta on Friday (14/8/2026).

Prabowo said the Indonesian economy grew by 5.61 percent in the first quarter of 2026. Meanwhile, economic growth in the first half of 2026 reached 5.45 percent. According to him, this achievement represents the highest first-quarter and first-half growth in the past 13 years.

This economic performance has gone hand in hand with investment growth. Prabowo said investment realisation throughout 2025 reached Rp 1,931 trillion and created more than 2.7 million jobs.

Meanwhile, in the first half of 2026, investment realisation reached Rp 1,010 trillion with the creation of more than 1.4 million jobs. Nevertheless, Prabowo stressed that economic growth and investment are not the government’s ultimate goal. He wants this growth to have a direct impact on public welfare.
