Prabowo Opens Cabinet Meeting to Evaluate Government Performance
President Prabowo Subianto held a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta. Prabowo gathered his cabinet members to evaluate the government’s performance and programmes. “Today I deliberately held a plenary cabinet meeting in mid-2026, ahead of 17 August 2026, where traditionally the President of the Republic of Indonesia delivers a speech several days before 17 August to convey to the entire nation what has been accomplished over one year of work,” Prabowo said in his opening remarks at the cabinet meeting in Jakarta, Monday. Prabowo stated that his administration is now approaching the end of its second year. According to him, the heavy agenda of governance sometimes means the cabinet does not fully realise the many achievements that have been made. “We have been working very hard, and very intensively,” he said. Nevertheless, Prabowo acknowledged that the government still faces various challenges. He emphasised that the evaluation was not conducted to find fault or to make comparisons with previous administrations. “Sometimes, by working so hard and so intensively, we ourselves are not fully aware of how much we have achieved in our first two years, because we are facing major problems, we are facing a world full of turmoil,” he continued. “And we face bitter realities that we must acknowledge, which are our common challenges. We do not intend to find fault, we do not intend to make comparisons. Every era has its government, every government has its era,” he added.
