The United States Supreme Court has struck down President Donald Trump’s global reciprocal trade tariff policy. In response to the ruling, President Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia is ready to face all possibilities.

“We are ready to face all possibilities. We respect the domestic politics of the United States. We shall see how things develop,” Prabowo said in Washington DC, as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Saturday (21/2/2026).

Prabowo assessed that the new US trade tariff of 10 per cent is beneficial for Indonesia. He affirmed that Indonesia is prepared to face all eventualities regarding US trade tariffs.

“I think it is advantageous (the 10 per cent tariff). We are ready to face all possibilities,” he added.

Prabowo and Trump had previously agreed that exports from Indonesia to the US would be subject to a 19 per cent reciprocal tariff, except for certain products which would receive a 0 per cent reciprocal tariff. Indonesia, for its part, removed 99 per cent of tariff barriers on US products.

Trump launched harsh criticism of the Supreme Court ruling, calling it “terrible” and condemning the justices who rejected his trade policy as “fools”.

Not standing idle, Trump also immediately imposed a new 10 per cent global tariff using a rarely invoked regulation known as “Section 122”.

Meanwhile, businesses and several US states that had challenged the policy hailed the Supreme Court ruling as a major victory.
