Prabowo on Unscripted Speeches: It is the Experts and Elites Who Dislike Them

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has once again touched upon his communication style, specifically his preference for delivering speeches without a script.

He remarked that only experts and elites dislike his unscripted way of speaking. “If there are those who dislike it, they are the experts and the elites,” Prabowo stated during the 28th anniversary celebration of the PAN party in Jakarta on Friday (18/9).

Prabowo mentioned that many political and communication experts have provided input suggesting he should deliver speeches based on prepared texts. However, he maintained that he knows the Indonesian people well and prefers to speak candidly.

“But how can I help? I prefer to speak as I am,” he said.

He also noted that during the PAN anniversary event, the audience appeared to prefer Prabowo speaking without referring to a text. “I can see from your faces, I can see from your eyes, that you like it when I speak without a script,” he added.
