Prabowo on the Performance of the National Police Chief: If the Team Captain is Good, Their Contract is Extended
President Prabowo Subianto stated that he will award the Bintang Mahaputera (Star of Mahaputera) to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Agus Subiyanto, in recognition of their good performance.
“I see that the Polri has achieved good results. The National Police Chief has not yet received the Bintang Mahaputera, has he? President Prabowo will award the star,” said Prabowo in a speech during the simultaneous mass corn harvest event and the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 10 Polri food security buildings in Tuban Regency, East Java, which was monitored online from Jakarta, Saturday.
“The Commander has not received it either, right? President Prabowo will give it,” he added.
Upon hearing this statement, the National Police Chief and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces stood up and saluted President Prabowo.
The President said that the award was given as a form of appreciation for the leadership and achievements shown in the organization.
According to Prabowo, if an organization runs well, it shows good leadership.
Prabowo said that the Polri has shown various achievements, including in supporting the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and its involvement in the mass corn harvest, which he has attended several times.
In addition, Prabowo also mentioned the innovations displayed by the Polri in various activities, which made him happy.
“I see that Mr. Listyo has been successful, right? What can I say? Yes, right? I see that the MBG is great, the most organized and efficient. This is not just me praising, I am also stingy when it comes to giving awards, but I want to be objective,” he said.
On that occasion, Prabowo said that leadership in an organization has consequences for success or failure.
According to Prabowo, leaders who succeed deserve appreciation, while those who fail must be evaluated.
“I see the role of the Polri is extraordinary, and I think it is because of leadership. If it is good, we must admit it is good. If it is good, we admit it is good, and in an organization, if the organization is good, it means the leader is good, right?” said the President.
Prabowo also cited the example of the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, who was previously given a target of achieving food self-sufficiency in four years, but was able to achieve it in one year, thus receiving the Bintang Jasa Utama (Star of Merit) award.
