Prabowo on the May Day Stage: I'm the President, Not Teddy Indra Wijaya

JAKARTA - President Prabowo joked with the labour masses celebrating May Day at Monas by asserting that he is Indonesia’s President, not Teddy Indra Wijaya. Prabowo began his speech at the 2026 May Day podium by greeting ministers up to the National Police Chief and TNI Commander, and also greeting Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. “Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia, Lieutenant Colonel…,” said Prabowo from the podium in the Monas field, Jakarta, on Friday morning (1/5/2026). “I haven’t even mentioned the name yet, and you’re already shouting. All the shouting ones are the mothers,” said Prabowo in reaction to the enthusiastic shouts from the labour masses towards Teddy. “Hey, I’m the President, not him. I’m the President,” said Prabowo while pointing to his own chest. Finally, Prabowo mentioned the full name of the Cabinet Secretary. “Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia, Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya,” said Prabowo, greeted with loud shouts and applause from the labour masses in front of him. The event was attended by MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Minister Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers Mukhtaruddin, Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, and other officials.
