Prabowo on Labour Law: If Possible, Finish This Year

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is pushing for the ratification of the Labour Bill into law to occur in 2026. “If possible, it must be completed this year as well. And that law must side with the working class,” said Prabowo Subianto from the stage at the International Labour Day 2026 event at Monas field, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). “I have also given instructions to the Minister of Manpower and the Minister of Law to promptly work together with the House of Representatives to finalise the Labour Bill,” said Prabowo. He wants the regulations to truly favour the people. He stated that he has signed Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 regulating that matter. Prabowo also promised childcare or daycare for workers’ children in industrial area environments. Prabowo also promised ice factories in every fishing village and assistance with boats for fishermen. Prabowo also promised subsidised housing for workers and the opening of job access for the disabled.
