Prabowo on Frequent Overseas Trips: To Secure Oil!

President Prabowo Subianto has spoken about his frequent overseas visits. He emphasised that his activities involving various meetings abroad are to anticipate an oil crisis amid global geopolitical turmoil. “They say Prabowo is just travelling abroad, likes going abroad. Brothers and sisters, to secure oil, yes, I have to go everywhere,” said Prabowo during a government working meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Prabowo mentioned his most recent visit to Japan, which resulted in several strategic bilateral cooperation agreements. He also revealed plans for an upcoming overseas visit. “We went to Japan and got something. Now, I’m off again. I’m going to head to another country. Later, once I depart, you’ll know where,” he said. He stated that the visit is also aimed at enhancing energy cooperation. Prabowo received a report from the advance team in the relevant country that preparations for the visit are well in place. “To secure it as well, but alhamdulillah, before I depart, the advance team said ‘all clear’. So I’m confident; for me, Indonesia won’t be in the dark. Indonesia is bright at a time when many countries are struggling,” he remarked.
