President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that there is Rp39 trillion in accounts with unclear ownership under the control of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK). He made this statement while attending the handover of Rp10.27 trillion from the collection of administrative forest fines by the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (Satgas PKH). Prabowo stated that the money is likely the result of corruption or other criminal acts. He also alluded to the possibility that the corruptors and criminals might have young wives. “The money (totaling up to Rp39 trillion) with unclear origins—the corruptors or criminals might have already fled Indonesia or died. The money is left in unclear accounts; perhaps they have many young wives or mistresses, so their wives or heirs don’t know that they have money in those banks,” Prabowo said at the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday (13/5). Prabowo claimed that the tens of trillions of rupiah are no longer managed by their owners. Therefore, he has ordered the money to be transferred and used for the people’s interests. According to Prabowo, the Satgas PKH will also deposit around Rp11 trillion next month, along with around Rp39 trillion from the PPATK. “It hasn’t been managed for several years, so I say if it hasn’t been managed for several years, and we’ve announced it for a year with no one coming forward, then transfer it for the people. Next month, approximately Rp49 trillion,” he said. Prabowo stated that the Rp49 trillion could also be used to improve Puskesmas across Indonesia. “Brothers and sisters, today that means we can complete 5,000 Puskesmas with Rp10 trillion. If next month truly Rp10 trillion more comes from the Task Force, plus Rp39 trillion from PPATK, that means Rp49 trillion. That means we can easily repair all Puskesmas,” he said.
