Prabowo Officially Receives Credentials from Ambassadors of Eight Friendly Nations

President Prabowo Subianto received the Letters of Credential from eight ambassador-designates from friendly nations on Monday afternoon. The presentation ceremony was held behind closed doors at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta confirmed the event to reporters, noting that the ambassadors represented various regions, including Southeast Asia (Philippines), South Asia (Sri Lanka), Europe (Czech Republic and Greece), the Middle East (Palestine and Lebanon), East Asia (South Korea), and the Caribbean (Saint Lucia).

Addressing the closed nature of the ceremony, Anis Matta explained that the lack of press coverage was purely a technical matter. He further noted that during the meeting, President Prabowo emphasised Indonesia’s fundamental principle of ‘free and active’ diplomacy, stating that the nation maintains no military alliances with any other country.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also mentioned that the President apologised for the delay in the scheduling of the credential presentations, attributing it to his extremely heavy workload and the need to focus on pressing global situations since his inauguration.

Earlier in the day, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that the simultaneous presentation of credentials was planned to ensure efficiency. In addition to the diplomatic proceedings, President Prabowo was scheduled to inaugurate Nanik S. Deyang as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and Said Iqbal as a Special Advisor to the President. The appointment of Said Iqbal is intended to signal the administration’s commitment to addressing labour issues and worker welfare.
