Prabowo Officially Launches Corn Harvest and Food Storage Construction
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto officially commenced the corn harvest for the second quarter of 2026 in areas cultivated under the supervision of the Indonesian National Police, while also initiating the construction of 10 food storage facilities and launching 166 Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) across various regions.
The event took place as part of a harvest festival in Tuban Regency, East Java, on Saturday.
“In the name of God, on this Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 3:06 PM (WIB), I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate the groundbreaking ceremony for 10 food storage facilities and the operational launch of 166 SPPG, as well as the corn harvest cultivated by the Indonesian National Police. I declare it commenced,” said President Prabowo, followed by pressing a button to activate a siren on stage.
During the ceremony, President Prabowo pressed the siren button together with three farmers representing farmer groups in Tuban, Chief of the National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, and Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman.
After the ceremony, President Prabowo tested a tractor used to assist in the corn harvest, specifically a combine corn harvester capable of cultivating 0.4 hectares per hour.
From atop the tractor, President Prabowo also participated in harvesting corn in the areas cultivated under the supervision of the Indonesian National Police.
Subsequently, President Prabowo listened to a report from the Chief of the National Police regarding the corn harvest in the areas cultivated under the supervision of the Indonesian National Police for the second quarter of 2026.
In the corn harvest event for the second quarter of 2026 in agricultural areas cultivated under the supervision of the Indonesian National Police, 36 regional police departments are involved, with a total area of 189,760.36 hectares. Of this total, 1,608.76 hectares of cornfields are being harvested simultaneously today.
The Chief of the National Police stated that the potential harvest for the second quarter of 2026 is estimated at 1.23 million tons. Of this potential yield, 100 tons of corn will be exported to Malaysia.
The cornfields cultivated by the East Java Police Department represent the largest area in today’s harvest event, covering 650.56 hectares, while the total area for the second quarter of 2026 is 43,201.82 hectares.
