President Prabowo Subianto offered university education opportunities to a female student from Nias, North Sumatra, after she courageously reported directly via social media about school access challenges involving crossing a fast-flowing river. During the dialogue, Prabowo advised the student to study properly and not engage in relationships.

Prabowo’s appreciation was conveyed during a video conference dialogue with Nias student Yamisa Zebua. Previously, the student had submitted a report via TikTok regarding access to her school, which involved crossing a fast-moving river. The video subsequently went viral on social media.

Prabowo subsequently constructed a bailey bridge at the location used by students, specifically in Sifalago Village, Nias, North Sumatra. Yamisa then expressed her gratitude directly to Prabowo.

“Thank you for all the assistance you have provided to us. Now we no longer… and no longer open our shoes when we go to school. Thank you, Mr President,” Yamisa said, as seen on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday (9 March 2026).

Upon hearing this, Prabowo inquired about Yamisa’s age and educational level. Yamisa disclosed that she is currently 17 years old and is in year 12 of senior secondary school.

Prabowo also asked about Yamisa’s plans after completing school. Yamisa stated that she wished to continue her education at university, but faced obstacles due to her family’s economic circumstances.

“Where do you want to go to school? Where would you like to continue?” Prabowo asked.

“I want to continue my studies at university, but my parents cannot afford it, sir,” Yamisa replied.

When asked about her ambitions, Yamisa expressed her desire to pursue education in medicine. Upon hearing this, Prabowo voiced his support and said that Yamisa would be given the opportunity to sit entrance examinations.

“Very well, you will sit the examination,” he said.

On this occasion, Yamisa also mentioned that three of her classmates sitting beside her shared the same desire to pursue university education. Prabowo indicated that such assistance could possibly be extended to them as well. Prabowo then offered advice to the students to continue studying and refrain from dating.

“My three friends here also want to continue their studies, sir,” Yamisa said.

“Yes, God willing, all of them, but you must study properly, your grades must be good, do not date yet, since you say you want to pursue studies,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo also instructed military personnel in the field to record the names of Yamisa and her friends. Prabowo commended Yamisa’s courage in directly reporting the conditions in her region.

“The military commander should take note, because she has courage and leadership qualities. She reported directly to me via TikTok. Make note of her friends’ names as well. Study properly,” he said.
