JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto highlighted Indonesia’s position as a geopolitically stable nation in front of Japanese investors. This stability serves as the main attraction to encourage investment. Prabowo conveyed this after speaking at the Indonesia-Japan business forum in Tokyo on Monday (30/3/2026). He emphasised that Indonesia prioritises a non-aligned foreign policy. This approach is open to all countries and avoids entanglement in global conflicts. “Our philosophy is that a thousand friends are still too few, one enemy too many,” Prabowo stated. “Indonesia is in a comfortable position because we have no enemies,” he added. Prabowo also stressed Indonesia’s character as an open economy. Economic activities heavily rely on trade and international partnerships. The government strives to maintain relations with various countries. Japan is one of the strategic partners that continues to be strengthened. In addition to political stability, Prabowo promoted the economic reform agenda. The focus is directed towards improving the investment climate. He mentioned strengthening government governance, law enforcement, and accelerating industrialisation based on value-added natural resources. The government is also opening investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector, electric vehicles, manufacturing, and the digital economy. “We are not only offering opportunities, but also real partnerships,” he said. The government hopes that Indonesia-Japan economic relations will deepen further. Long-term investment flows are expected to increase accordingly.
