President Prabowo Subianto has stated that after two years, all his priority programmes, from free nutritious meals (MBG) to downstreaming, are no longer just plans on paper. He said the benefits of these programmes are now being felt by the people.

Prabowo made the remarks during his state address at the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026). He initially detailed the achievement of food self-sufficiency, which was previously targeted for four to five years but was accomplished within one year.

“We have eliminated 145 regulations on fertiliser distribution. We have managed to reduce fertiliser prices by 20%. This has happened for the first time in the history of the Republic of Indonesia. But at the same time, the profit of PT Pupuk Indonesia rose by 252.8%. And because of that, this year we are already self-sufficient in eight food commodities. We have achieved self-sufficiency in rice, corn, consumer sugar, chicken meat, chicken eggs, shallots, large chillies, and bird’s eye chillies,” he said.

Prabowo also detailed the energy self-sufficiency that is now beginning to be achieved. With the B50 product, Indonesia no longer imports diesel from abroad.

“The promise of energy self-sufficiency is now starting to be realised, firstly with self-sufficiency in diesel fuel as we have successfully produced diesel with B50. So starting this year, from 1 July 2026, we no longer import diesel from abroad, and we have managed to save foreign exchange of 170 trillion Rupiah, about 9.5 billion US Dollars that we no longer have to send overseas,” he stated.

Other programmes, namely MBG, digital social assistance, and downstreaming, are also now underway. Prabowo said all the programmes that were his campaign promises are beginning to be felt by the public.

“The promise of nutritious food, digital social assistance, and downstreaming are no longer plans on paper. Everything is running and the benefits are beginning to be felt by the people,” he said.

Prabowo said these achievements are not a reason for complacency. He assured that his cabinet will continue to work hard to realise public welfare in the future.

“This is not a reason for complacency. This is a stimulus for us to work even harder. Because independence is not just what we proclaim. Independence is what the people feel,” he said.
